Near the end of his storied life, Martin Luther King used the phrase “Brotherhood of Man” in a speech. He envisioned people coming together globally supporting each other to overcome racism and poverty. I don’t know if Dr. King knew about Rotary, but it feels to me like the founders of Rotary had a similar dream, back in 1907. Leaders build bridges so that others are included, and their skills utilized. You and I are influencers and one of the best ways to succeed in bridge building is to proactively reach out and ask people to join in the fun of creating positive outcomes, locally and globally. Instead of ‘brotherhood of man,’ in today’s language, organizations like ours are fostering “a community of people,” which enable us to meet Rotary’s goals and Dr. King’s vision of:
peace and conflict prevention/resolution, and
economic and community development.
In every project that we tackle and support, we influencers are building bridges of support for the betterment of all people.What an awesome responsibility!
